So it’s obvious that it’s not a long-term plan to work with Skitch for Windows. This decision has hurt its Windows users’ feeling, even though the existing users can continue to use Skitch, any external changes such as the update to their operating system or browser may break features or functionality of Skitch at any point in the future. Now only Skitch on Mac is still in maintenance and update. However, on January 22, 2016, Evernote has ended its support for Skitch for Windows, Windows Touch, iOS, and Android.
I’m a little ashamed to admit I’ve occasionally “deleted” content from an image by pasting rectangles of adjacent background on top.If you often have the need to capture a screenshot, edit and share images in your daily work, you may have heard or used Skitch from Evernote, which is a free screenshot editing and sharing utility for OS X, iOS, Windows, and Android. Playing around, I also discovered a couple of features that I will use: Blur/Erase It’s got a bunch of extra features that I’ll probably never use, like measuring dimensions and identifying colors. Shottr’s user interface is slim and clean, and the features I care about are easy to find. Perhaps this is related to running under Rosetta - and, remarkably, Skitch is one of the last holdouts: it’s often the only Intel process running on my ARM Mac. I’m normally perfectly content to use old software that still does its job well, but lately Skitch has felt a little sluggish. I mostly use the arrows and text, but it also has a few other markup tools and facilities for capturing, cropping, and sharing. Skitch is a pretty simple app providing a small handful of tools: Shottr’s been sitting wistfully in my menu bar ever since, but I only recently got around to trying it.
